An intriguing blend of 48% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, this inky purple-colored wine is ripe, progressively styled, big, rich, thick and juicy. In other words, the 2012 Lascombes is loaded. No doubt the high percentage of Merlot in the final blend gives this wine a fleshiness and succulence that is unusual in the Médoc. Rich, pure and full, it should hit its prime in another 4-5 years and last at least two or three decades.

WINE ENTHUSIAST  93/100 - 2012 Vintage
This vintage of Lascombes shows more restraint on oak than previous vintages. The result is a ripe wine, still showing some wood flavors although it is already beginning to balance these with the black fruits. It has an opulent style that is warm and generous. Drink from 2019.

WINE SPECTATOR  87/100 - 2012 Vintage
Fleshy and open, with caressing toast carrying friendly plum sauce and blackberry pâte de fruit notes, ending with a rounded, vanilla-accented finish. Has fruit and polish, but lacks range. Drink now through 2018. 26,665 cases made. — JM
